Are you taking your family to Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio? Read below for our summer camp-in weekend of fun!
A few weeks ago, we took the Dubs Brudders down to Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio. The whole family had a blast and we can’t wait to visit again soon! From lodging to dining and swimming fun, it’s a great family destination for a weekend full of activity and memories.
Our June trip was the second time down to Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky. We’ve also visited Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City and all of our GWL trips have been a blast. This trip was extra special with all of the fun Summer Camp-In themed activities, treats, and experiences.
From pool parties, character appearances, summer camp food, games, and music, we had such a memorable weekend trip for the whole family. Even though the weather was chilly and rainy, it didn’t dampen our family trip at all! Our weekend was action packed with so many Summer Camp-In activities at Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, Ohio.
Lodging at Great Wolf Lodge
We stayed in the KidCabin suite which features a log cabin-themed sleeping area with three twin beds and a king bed. The room was decorated to give us the whole feel of being at summer camp.
The boys absolutely loved having their own room, especially the cabin bunk bed! The suite was so spacious for all of us, with a king bed for mom and dad, and a TV/lounge area.
The room also has a mini kitchen are that has a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, all the essentials to keep our family comfortable throughout our stay.
We spent our mornings on the balcony, sipping our hot coffee, while the boys got ready for a day of swimming and other summer camp-in activities.
Swimming at Great Wolf Lodge
The Dubs Brudders’ absolute favorite attraction at Great Wolf Lodge is the massive indoor water park that features the best water slides, lazy river, hot tubs, and various types of pools.
We love the variety of water activities and play areas at Great Wolf Lodge. It’s perfect for all family members from young to old.
For our kids who are 6, 4, and 2, we spent the most of our pool time at the toddler water play area, kiddie pool, basketball pool and of course, waiting for the big splash from the Great Wolf Lodge bucket!
A also loved riding the big slides. I swear that kid has no fear. He definitely gets that from D and not me. 🙂
We spent hours at the pool in the morning, came back to the room to lounge while Baby B napped, and then headed back for evening swim sessions.
Dining at Great Wolf Lodge
During our stay, we enjoyed meals at Camp Critter Bar & Grille and Buckets, the poolside eatery.
The food did not disappoint and the boys ate up every single meal. I think they worked up their appetites while swimming and running around for different activities.
A’s favorite meal was the waffle grilled cheese sandwich. They also had a variety of special food items for the Summer Camp-In theme.
We also enjoyed not having to be short order cooks and loved being able to spend so much time with the boys as a family.
Nothing like a juicy burger and refreshing Coke after a morning at the pool. It was the perfect lunch for us to refuel for an afternoon round of swimming fun with the boys.
Character Breakfast at Great Wolf Lodge
During Summer Camp-In, Great Wolf Lodge has character breakfasts where kids get a special visit from their GWL friends. The boys loved singing songs and getting a special picture of the occasion.
Our server was especially great with the kids. She was so attentive to all of our needs and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed at every meal. The service at GWL cannot be beat!
Dessert at Bear Paw Sweet & Treats
For Summer Camp-In, Great Wolf Lodge has a special s’mores dessert bar, served up by their very own culinary experts – s’moreliers. NomNomNom!
We also loved our ice cream desserts at Bear Paw Sweets & Treats! A favorite for our little wolf pack!
In addition to all of the swimming and water action, the Dubs Brudders had so much fun at the daily Summer Camp-In activities. From summer camp themed arts and crafts to story time and dance parties, there was no shortage of fun things to do at Great Wolf Lodge.
The boys had a blast playing Magi Quest for the first time. Magi Quest is an interactive live-action, role playing game where players embark on quests and adventures in an enchanted fantasy world.
For their ages respectively, A (age 6) had the full wand and game abilities, C (age 4) had the mini-version wand which allows kids to activate and light up different stations. And B (age 2) had a $5 light up wand that didn’t have any game attributes, but he was none the less wiser. 🙂
