Looking for some play room and organization ideas? Read below for the info on our IKEA-Inspired Bright White Modern Play Room!
It’s here! The Dubs’ Brudders play room is complete! My spur of the moment decision to set it up, took two weeks from start to finish. Our IKEA-Inspired Bright White Modern Play Room was a labor of love over our holiday break. I’m breaking down all of the details in the blog series here:
The Play Room
When we built Simply Every Home, we chose this layout because it came with a bonus room on the second floor. With three kids, we knew that having additional, use-able space was more important than a two-story great room.
Our two older boys share a room and we plan on having all three rotate room sharing at some point in their adolescence. So, I wanted their bedrooms to be a separate space from their play and study area. The bonus room was the perfect addition to our home.
While it will probably evolve as the boys get older, for now, this play room houses their toys, a media center, and desk area. So, I think it’s sufficient to meet their changing needs for their years through elementary school.
Paint Colors in the Play Room
The room is painted in Sherwin Williams Eider White (SW 7014). The trim in the play room is Sherwin Williams Pure White (SW 7005).
You can buy the HGTV SW line at Lowes, all you have to do is ask for the colors above. Or you can go to your local Sherwin Williams retailer.
IKEA Furniture in the Play Room
Most of the furniture in the play room is from IKEA.
- MICKE double-wide desk
- LACK large coffee table
- TROFAST bench
- TROFAST storage ladder units
- LACK floating shelves
- TROFAST storage bins
- BESTA TV stand
- MAMMUT stools
- MOLTE desk chairs
IKEA doesn’t have an affiliate program, so I don’t have direct links for you. But, you can search at IKEA.com for the pieces I listed above to shop online. Or you can take the list with you and have them find the pieces for you in the nearest warehouse near you.
The four cube storage unit is actually from Target. It’s very comparable to the IKEA KALLAX unit. The storage cubes are also from Target. The storage bins for the LEGO pieces are also from Target.
Before Pictures of the Play Room
I don’t think I need to say anything more about what my motivation was to get this room organized. The pictures say enough on their own. Haha. We pretty much dumped all the LEGO bins and random toys in here when we moved in last summer. The boys have made do with playing in the open mess of chaos and mess. I survived simply by shutting the door every night. Whatever works, right?
Needless to say, after the Post-Christmas toy additions, David and I decided pretty quickly that this was going to be our holiday break project. We made two trips to IKEA, spent many nights assembling and organizing. Then, we spent the last week or so putting in the final touches for the complete IKEA inspired bright white modern play room.
I’m so happy with how the space turned out. I’m even happier to report that the boys, thus far, have done really well at keeping the space tidy.
