(*With a heavy heart, I want to share that since the creation of this post, our sweet Buddy has gone to doggy heaven. We love and miss him daily and will treasure the memories we made during our ten years with him.)
The holiday season is just a few weeks away! These weeks are flying by. Do I sound like a broken record yet? I feel like this is the phrase that will rule my life. Especially these years of raising little ones. Well, as fast as this holiday season seems to be going, I hope the rest of winter moves just as quickly. (Highly doubtful around these snowy parts… haha).
When it comes to the holidays, we stick by two rules.
The first rule is to keep the gift-giving process as simple and easy as possible for everyone. We try not to overdo it on any level and like to emphasize the spirit of giving and the joy we receive through it. And the second rule is to make sure that we show our love and appreciation to our closest friends and family.
For us, that includes the furriest members of our family, Bailey & Buddy. We’ve celebrated Christmas with our dogs every year since we adopted each of them. And throughout our celebrations, I’ve noticed the things that our dogs enjoy the most for their holiday gifts. Now that the boys are older, they love helping me get our simple & easy holiday gifts ready for our pups.
Some of our favorite dog treats have a great offer right now through the end of the year at Meijer. If you buy any 4 Milk-Bone, Milo’s Kitchen, Pup-Peroni or Canine Carry Outs dog treats, you receive $3 off your next shopping trip at Meijer. So don’t forget to enter your mPerks ID at checkout on your next trip now until 12/29/18. Click here to find out more.
While they certainly don’t expect it, it’s fun to package up their favorite dog treats in festive ways to make sure that they’re included in our holiday celebrations. It’s actually a great way to keep teaching our boys about our responsibility to take care of our dogs, too.
Stocking Stuffers
We’re all about the matching monogram stockings around our fireplace. And by we, I really mean, me. 😉 I’ve luckily been able to get each of the boys a matching personalized stocking. But the first year I bought them, I made sure to include one for Bailey & Buddy! Christmas morning is filled with all sorts of excitement. And we want to make sure our fur babes feel the love too! Thankfully, I can stuff a good amount of goodies in each stocking! The newest treat to be added into our holiday gift mix is Milk-Bone Puffs! It’s an airy, crunchy treat that I know the dogs will love! So much flavor and 10 calories or less with each treat!
Homemade Treat Ornaments
I bought some medium sized clear ornaments and will fill them with different treats like Milo’s Kitchen Chicken Meatballs that are made of 100% Real Chicken, with no artificial flavors or colors. I’ll probably add in the Pup-Peroni Jerky Bites into a few of them too. Bailey and Buddy are both huge fans of Pup-Peroni real beef dog treats. I know they will jump all over the place for their mouthwatering dog treats. They’ve been loving the new meaty tender bites!
DIY Treat Advent Calendar
The boys love opening up their Advent Calendars, so I think I’m going to make a DIY treat Advent Calendar for the dogs! I’ll probably fill them with the bite-size Canine Carry Outs which have been a favorite since their puppy years. Now, I just need a good hiding spot for the dogs (and the boys!), so they don’t try to eat more than one treat a day! 😉 LOL.
Wrapped Treat Presents
Our pups have been with us for over ten years now! From their puppy days to now, they love their dog treats. I love that their products are made for dogs of all sizes! It’s easy for me to pick out a variety of different dog treats in the small bite size that are made for small dogs like Bailey & Buddy. They love to rip apart the packages on Christmas morning. The boys have a ball helping the dogs open their presents too! It’s a fun way to enjoy the dogs’ every day favorite dog treats. Making it a special occasion for everyone in the family.
