The Ultimate Work at Home Mom Wardrobe Essentials

I can hardly believe that I’ve been back to work for over a month. While I feel blessed to be able to work from home and be near my babies most days, it makes it hard to stick a morning routine for myself. I love the structure that comes with being back to my normal day time work schedule. But, I’m still trying to make time for myself to get ready in the mornings. A feat that is hard to do while trying to get a preschooler off to school and my toddler and baby to my mom for child care!

While it is hard to manage myself through our morning chaos, I try my best to get ready in the morning just like I would on any working day in the office. I love that I can dress down and be more comfortable, but I also like to keep a good capsule wardrobe of sorts that has a mix of casual and business attire. Here’s my current list of the ultimate work at home mom wardrobe essentials.

BASICS

This Madewell Whisper Tee is my holy grail of short sleeve v-necks. The quality is incredible at a great price point. I think I have the shirt in six different colors. I can layer lighter tees over tanks and wear the solid shirts on their own. This tee is perfect for year round weather.

Layering tanks are an essential basic in any wardrobe. I love the fit and feel of these and the length of them. They layer great under any of the tops in this wardrobe.

I love the detail on this twist front tee. Tees can be dressed up with the right detail! This top is comfortable for casual wear, but can be dressed up with a cardigan or blazer on top. Perfect for a quick video conference call or day time meeting.

I picked a couple of long sleeved shirt up during the #NSALE, they’re so comfy and soft! I love wearing them on their own or under the vest I have listed below. Again, it’s a casual piece that can be dressed up for ‘business casual’ wear!

TOPS

A button down is essential in any work wardrobe, I love the strips on this menswear shirt!

Navy is my color of choice these days and this wrap shirt is super comfortable. I love the wrap detail! Super cute and fits TTS!

I love the flutter sleeves on this casual top. I also love the lace detail!

This roll tab top is one of my favorite tops! I have it in several colors.

BOTTOMS

I was a latecomer to the skinny jean cut, but these are my absolute fave! So comfortable and high waist is super flattering on this postpartum belly.

These dress slacks are so comfortable that they don’t even feel like work pants. The color is so pretty!

I love having a good midi skirt in my work wardrobe rotation.

And you know I love my holy grail leggings! So comfortable and versatile!

LAYERS

Cardigans are great year round! I love this one because it’s long and I can pair with leggings for a comfy look or with slacks for a more professional look!

I love wrap cardigans and this one is lightweight, but cozy! I love the button detail.

Circle cardigans are all the rage and I am a bandwagon fan! This one is so comfortable!

A utility vest is great for me to throw on with a basic top. It’s great for our current warm fall weather.

DRESSES

I’m not huge on wearing dresses, but I do need them in my work wardrobe. This wrap dress is great with or without a cardigan over it! The fit is a little loose, but very comfortable.

This tank dress is super casual, but can be dressed up with a cardigan or button down or even a blazer.

A shift dress is my favorite silhouette. Super flattering for my current post partum body. I love the subtle, netural color of this dress.

T-shirt dresses are a must have for moms! So casual and comfortable. I love the ruffled sleeves on this one.

SHOES

Super trendy, but super comfortable! Mules are my go to for running out to preschool pickup or heading into my office for a quick meeting.

These converse slip ons are so comfortable and my go to everyday casual sneakers.

I’ve had these open toe booties for years and they are so versatile with any outfit.

My go to athletic sneakers for running errands and pretending that I work out regularly.

OUTERWEAR

This rain jacket is a must have in Michigan. Lightweight, waterproof, and comfortable!

A lightweight knit blazer and comes in a variety of solids and dotted prints! A must have for conference calls and in person meetings.

I love this utility jacket with snap-tab sleeves that can be worn cuffed or long to mix up your everyday style.

Perfect for our colder weather, a moto-style zip front wool coat! The cozy wool blend is perfect for comfort and warmth.

  1. Great picks lady! I would find it super hard to get dressed if working from home. The days I work from home I don’t get dressed until I have to go out the door to do something! 🙂

I love all of your picks. That twist front tee is totally calling my name, and you can never have too many cardigans!
