Back in 2012, I was a first-time mom to a late fall/early winter baby. While I’m not a huge fan of our long winters, I was elated to have a (valid) excuse to say no to (too many) visitors. I also loved having a reason to stay holed up in our house for two months. This might sound crazy to some of you, but I was so afraid of germs and rigid about sticking to a sleep schedule. First time mom fear and anxieties are real y’all! The frigid weather and flu season was the perfect escape for me to stay home to ensure that our baby didn’t catch any colds or any other illnesses.
Fast forward to two (summer) babes later, my whole view on mom life flipped a 180. Now that I’m more relaxed as a mom, I look for any reason to get out of the house. It’s a little bit more of a juggling act, but I’d much rather get some fresh air than go stir crazy with three little boys at home!
Three months into this whole mom of three gig and I can proudly wear my multi-tasking mom badge with pride. I regularly grocery shop, run errands, and get out of the house as much as I can with my entire crew in tow. Of course, our two favorite and easiest outings are for walks in our neighborhood and weekly shopping trips to my mama mecca, Target.
How bad is it that we (I) Target so often that when my kids are bored at home, they often ask, “Umma, let’s go to Target!” Believe it or not, the boys are just as excited about the Mom Mecca and behave well throughout our trip (most) days. A is getting too big to sit in the cart and often enjoys walking with me or holding onto the end of the car, while his brothers sit in the shopping cart. Oftentimes I wear the baby so that there’s room in the cart for me to buy ALLTHETHINGS! Because duh, when do you ever leave Target without a bag or ten?
I love using my Covered Goods, The Original 4-in-1 Nursing Cover as a cart cover for my rambunctious little two year old. C always manages to touch everything and gets his little fingers caught in the weirdest places. I love our Covered Goods cart cover because it’s so soft and so versatile. I take it right off of the baby car seat and slip it onto the shopping cart to use as a cart cover!
The boys and I usually spend a good hour perusing the aisles of Target. We pick up our grocery essentials, wander throughout the toy aisles and enjoy a snack (coffee) break. While Targeting solo is like a dream vacation, I enjoy my trips with the kids, too. There’s always something to get for the house or kids and it’s always nice to air out our stir craziness. Call me basic, but it is definitely our happy place, home away from home.
When I don’t have the energy to pack up my crew in the car, we go for a walk around the neighborhood. Sometimes the older boys ride their bikes or scooters and other times they just walk with me and help push the baby stroller. The temperature is starting to cool down for the fall season here in Michigan. And my Covered Goods, The Original 4-in-1 Nursing Cover is the perfect car seat cover for the transition from the warm summer heat.
I’ve been trying to get back into working out and getting fit again. So, taking a walk with the boys is a great way for us to spend time together and for me to get in some steps for the day! The boys love being outside throughout the year, so I’m hoping that it’ll keep me motivated to keep up with them and add in more rigorous exercise in my own time as well.
Sometimes you’ll catch me out of breath and most times I’ll be sweating, but I love getting out of the house with all of my boys. I think it’s my sanity to surviving this whole mom of three gig. And I’ve learned in time that even something quick and short as a walk around the neighborhood is good for all of us to refresh and spend time together.

Mamas of babies and toddlers!! Be sure to grab a Covered Goods, The Original 4-in-1 Nursing Cover! In addition to using it as a cart cover and car seat cover, I use it as a traditional nursing cover when out in public areas. It’s perfect to wear as an infinity scarf during our fall season and pull it over the babe when it’s time for a nursing session. All of the different ways you can use a Covered Goods, The Original 4-in-1 Nursing Cover is a must have in your arsenal of must have baby items. The quality of the cover can’t be matched (seriously, it’s so soft!) and the price point is (much) less than your weekly trip to Target!
