An Anniversary Staycation at Motor City Casino Hotel & D.Tour Spa

7 years! Today, my husband and I are celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. On a beautiful, sunny Saturday that started off with a rain shower (good luck!), we tearfully and joyfully said our “I Do”s and danced the night away. It was the first best day of our life together and I still remember it like it was yesterday.

In the last seven years, we’ve celebrated this day in a variety of ways. From traveling overseas to a quiet dinner at home, we try to spend the day talking and laughing about our memories from our wedding day and all of the life events that have since happened in the years following it. I love being able to take time, just us, even for just an hour to reminisce about the journey that our marriage has and continues to take us on, with its ups, downs, twists & turns.

Maybe it’s the most unromantic way of thinking about marriage, but it’s never the less true. It isn’t always rainbows and butterflies. And sometimes it’s just downright hard. But, even on our worst days, I know that God chose us for one another. And His grace upon our life is the foundation to our happily ever after. Our love story isn’t extraordinary, but is ours that we continue to write together, as we navigate the happy chaos of parenthood and every day life.

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, I choose you babes, TF & Happy 7th Anniversary. Thank you for loving me and making me laugh more today than the day I fell in love with you.

D and I were so excited when MotorCity Casino Hotel & D.Tour Spa invited us for a couples’ overnight stay and spa services. With three little babes at home, it’s nearly impossible to travel far away. My last pregnancy was tough on me physically, so I wasn’t able to travel for the better part of the year. We eagerly packed an overnight bag and headed downtown for an anniversary staycation at Motor City Casino Hotel & D.Tour Spa for an amazing getaway just a short drive away from home. From the room to the food to the spa services, everything was above and beyond our expectations. We couldn’t have brought in year 8 of marriage in a better way.

In MotorCity Casino Hotel’s 400 luxurious rooms, including 33 spacious suites, you can find unrivaled elegance coupled with the latest technology and amenities. Our room was on the 13th floor with an amazing view of downtown and the Ambassador Bridge to Canada. The room and bathroom were both spacious and filled with all of the things! It was the perfect room for two sleep deprived parents looking for a night of peaceful sleep! The king-sized bed was super comfortable and being able to sleep through the night was nothing short of amazing.

After we got settled into our room, we headed down to D.Tour Spa. D.Tour defines the Urban Spa Experience with an offering of unique spa adventures. Their 13,000-square-foot facility features dedicated lounges that include thermal whirlpools, large steam rooms, dry saunas and rain shower facilities. They offer 10 private treatment rooms with a specialized selection of massage and body treatments and expert finishing touches to bring out your best.

During our stay, D and I were treated to the Couples’ Suite Massage which included a reflexology or scalp treatment, private soak in the illuminated hydro-therapy tub, self-applied MotorCity Mud treatment in the double Rain Shower, followed by an amazing 50 minute MotorCity Music Massage. I think the smiles on our faces say it all, but we were so relaxed after our spa services at D.Tour Spa.
