Happy Friday, friends! Today, I’m recapping my summer skincare series and posting an update on my two+ months of using the Shortlist 2-Step Skincare System. For those of you who missed my posts or for those of you who need a refresher, you can read Post 1 and Post 2 from earlier this summer.
Believe it or not, the first summer I spent as a mom of three is coming to a close. Most of the time I was lost in a daze trying to find my way around parenting my three babes. But, in the midst of our transition to a family of five, I made sure to care for myself. While there is never enough time, I’ve learned that I can always make time for the things I prioritize in my life. Self-care is so crucial to balance the chaos that is daily parenting. Even the little things like keeping up my normal skincare routine makes the world of a difference in my mood.
My summer (and ongoing) beauty routine is wholly about simplicity. From wearing my hair au naturale to using the Shortlist 2-Step Skincare System, I’m very intentional and efficient about how I spend the time for self-care. Because let’s be real, at any given time I have one (or two or three) little boy(s) reaching for me for something from wake-up until bed-time.
One major way I save time is by air drying my hair and wearing in its wavy (frizzy) state. I like to style it when I can find the time, but as a day to day summer look, this works in place of my other go to, the “mom bun” aka the “topknot.” And honestly, my hair is actually so much healthier than the days I had time to blow dry it or curl it every day. I love that I can just get out of the shower, scrunch a little product in and be on my way out the door with the boys.
My summer skincare routine is also about simplicity! Less is always more in my book and these products proved me right. After two months of daily use, I can honestly say that my skin is so much better than it was at the start of summer. I’ve been able to go makeup-free most days and I love the simple ingredients that have strengthened my skin’s moisture barrier and noticeably diminished the look of fine lines around my eyes.
As I’ve mentioned previously, the Shortlist Cream rejuvenates skin by increasing surface cell turnover. I love how the moisturizing effects of the cream encourages surface cellular repair and reverses visible signs of aging like the fine lines I’ve noticed around my eyes and forehead. The Shortlist Cream is crucial to my skin’s youthful glow and my ongoing skincare prevention and rejuvenation. The Proretinal Cream only contains 9 ingredients and is good for anyone like me who is concerned about the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Shortlist believes that less is more. Shortlist products are formulated with only the finest ingredients. There’s no fillers, fragrance, or unnecessary additives. The cream only has two key ingredients:
- Retinyl propionate: Diminishes the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone
- Glycerin: Provides long-lasting moisture
The texture of my skin is so much smoother thanks to the Shortlist Serum. The serum moisturizes to repair existing dry and damaged skin using only three key ingredients:
- Niacinamide (vitamin B3): Helps to strengthen skin’s moisture barrier
- Glycerin: Provides long-lasting moisture
- Hyaluronic acid: A moisturizing ingredient that can hold more than 1000 times its weight in water
TWO MONTH SKIN UPDATE
The proof is definitely in the pictures. I took these pictures yesterday afternoon which visibly show the healthy glow and softness that is from my daily use of the Shortlist Skincare System. I lightly filled in my eyebrows, but otherwise, my skin is makeup free! My otherwise dry patches are no longer dry! The fine lines around my eyes are less visible. And overall, my skin has a healthy, youthful glow. It’s amazing what good skincare can do for your skin! It sounds like common sense, but it’s so easy to forget about in the midst of mom life!
BEFORE & AFTER
I also wanted to show a side by side comparison of the before and after use pictures. In the collage below, the left column is from June when I started using the Shortlist Serum and Cream. The right column shows the pictures from yesterday afternoon. While the lighting is a bit different, I can definitely see a visible improvement in my skin between the two sets of pictures.
In addition to the visible improvement, the quality of the Shortlist Skincare System can’t be matched. The products are definitely a part of my ongoing skincare routine and I can’t wait to see the improvements that will come from continued use!
