I know I sound like a broken record, but seriously, how is it possible that I’m going to have three (!!!) babies in just a couple of months! I’m certain that this shock will not wear off until he’s here in my arms. I’m equal parts excited, nervous, and overjoyed at the thought of our house full of boys.
While I haven’t had time (or mental capacity LOL) to prepare much for this third little love of mine, I’m starting to get my butt in gear to get prepped for the essentials that we’ll need to care for him as he comes into the world and our life. One of my must have baby gear items is a functional diaper bag!
While I’m not big on overdoing things in the baby gear or clothing department, I am all about making sure to cover all of our essential baby care needs. With two babies in diapers for the foreseeable future, a good diaper bag is a necessary item in my arsenal of baby gear.
With two active little boys and a newborn on the way, a back pack style diaper bag is my favorite style. We’re always on the go, whether it’s a quick run to Target or taking the boys to the playground; and having our hands free to tend to the kids is a must for both my husband and I.
We’re both huge fans of our JJ Cole Back Pack diaper bag. It’s stylish, but fully functional and I adore the Black Aztec print. My husband loves that it’s a neutral color that he can wear easily, too! I love it in the classic back pack style, but there’s also two other carrying options (messenger style or stroller attachment). The bag isn’t bulky, but offers plenty of interior space to hold everything for our busy days out of the house.
My husband also loves the backpack carry option and that it has so many pockets! He doesn’t have to worry about where to put his cell phone, car keys, and small baby items like pacifiers or hand toys. Did I mention there’s a changing pad, too? Yep, I absolutely love that it’s such a functional diaper bag that dads can carry, too!
Some of my essential items that I carry in our JJ Cole Back Pack Diaper Bag are:
- Parasol Wipes & Diapers for Toddler & Baby (aff link)
- Aden & Anais Swaddle Blankets
- Finn & Emma Baby Onesie (aff link)
- Covered Goods Nursing Cover
- Kleyanimals Toys
- Happy Baby Cereal Puffs
- JJ Rabbit Feeding Essentials

The one thing I need to get better at is always carrying an extra outfit with me! There’s a 50/50 chance my two year old will get sick in car rides lasting longer than an hour. Lol
Wish I knew about this when mine were in diapers!
This is the perfect neutral diaper bag!! Love it! When Kaia was a baby, Lawrence wouldn’t carry my floral Kate Spade diaper bag with a ten foot pole. Hehehe.
I plan to have 3 kids too so hopefully, we’ll be blessed with another one in a few years. A backpack diaper bag is a really great idea especially if you have your hands full.

I love the backpack. I see how with two kids it would be necessary.
I am right here with you at 32 weeks, mama! You’re looking great and I LOVE this backpack. Great selection!
I am a mom of 3, and wish I would have had a backpack style diaper bag! The one that you have shared is really cute and yet seems to be so functional.
I WISH I had invested in a backpack diaper bag! I never thought about it when I was pregnant with my first, but it would have been well worth it.
I still can’t believe you’re having another soon!!! Love the pic and D and the boys walking ???? Made me awwww out loud.
I never tried a backpack, but it makes the most sense for 3+! Messenger style was my fave back in the day.
I love the backpack diaper bags! It is way to hard to handle kids, dog, and worry about the bag falling off my shoulder. The one you shared is so cute too 🙂
